Our mission is to preserve, celebrate, and share St. Croix's significant contributions to the arts by documenting the musical heritage of the island and promoting the living culture of Quelbe, Cariso, Calypso, and Quadrille to today’s audiences.

St. Croix’s musical traditions present us with a living history of this magical island. By making a documentary film, contributing to arts and education programs in the schools, and strengthening community partnerships, we are working to help these songs of resilience and celebration reach audiences far beyond our shores and spark the imagination of future generations who will carry this legacy forward.

We believe in the beauty and power of Crucian culture and honor the place that ‘place’ plays in its development. We believe both are worthy of protecting. The more we hear the stories directly from the elders and culture bearers, the more we gain strength from their wisdom.  

Red Dragonfly Foundation is a woman-led globally distributed team of filmmakers, artists and activists. We are inspired by the revolutionary spirit in the music and the universal call for freedom. We are looking through a matriarchal lens in our filmmaking, and focusing intentionally on the role of women in Crucian culture and music.
